Como les había contado, con este primer año de Picnic se vienen cosas nuevas, y aquí están!!!
La idea es seguir teniendo el invitado especial cada 15 días, pero además ahora habrá pequeñas actualizaciones diarias con cosas bonitas que se encuentran en la red: fotos, ilustraciones, imágenes, tipografías, artistas, cualquier cosa que pueda servir de inspiración para todos los Picniqueros.

As I said on our last update, Picnic’s first birthday comes with some amazing changes and here they are!
Picnic will have it’s special guest every two weeks, but there are also going to be daily updates with beautiful or interesting stuff found online: pictures, illustrations, images, fonts, artists, anything that may come in handy for some Picnicker inspiration.
So now you guys can come around more often and find delicious and surprising eye candy!!! : D

Dulce, es la primera palabra que se viene a la cabeza cuando se mira el trabajo fotográfico de Jen Gotch, o cuándo se da una hojeada a su original Página Web!
Sus «Tiras fotográficas» forman unas composiciones perfectas por las que la mirada va paseando y sorprendiéndose constantemente en el camino de cómo algo tan aparentemente sencillo no se le ocurre a todo el mundo. Precisamente, eso es lo bonito de estas imágenes, la forma que tienen de hacer evidente la belleza de las cosas cotidianas, de resaltar con esa gama de colores blancos y cremas lo increíble de las pequeñas cosas, un juego de cubiertos, un mantel, un vestido colgado en una ventana…
Si se sigue el recorrido del planeta Jen Gotch, se encuentran además dos series que son conmovedoras y hermosamente logradas, una de autoretratos intervenidos con rayones de lapicero en puntos claves que son a la vez desconcertantes y bonitos y que hacen que el observador se detenga y trate de analizar el motivo de la intervención. Y otra serie de objetos en polaroids acompañados de unos increíbles textos que guían el pensamiento hasta llevarlo a uno a un entendimiento total del estado de ánimo de la fotógrafa a la hora de elegir ese objeto o esa circunstancia para registrarla en la foto.
Creo que no hay mucho que yo pueda decir que no pueda leerse en su impecable y transparente trabajo, o que ella misma no pueda contar en sus propias palabras:
“Vivo en los angeles. El clima frío hace que me duelan los dedos de los piés
Me gustan los conejitos, los gatitos, y los zombies también,
Bailo Tap todos los martes,
Me casé en Las Vegas,
Tengo un romance tórrido con mi cámara Polaroid,
He ido a París,
Me gustan las ventas de garaje y los unicornios,
Quisiera que te guste mi trabajo (mucho),
No me dan celos,
Siempre encuentro algo emocionante en lo cotidiano,
Celebro mi medio cumpleaños,

Sweetness, is the first word that comes to mind when you look at Jen Gotch’s photographic work. Or at her webpage for that matter!
Her «Photo Strips» make perfect compositions through which the viewer’s glance travels smoothly and constantly amazes itself of how something so seemingly simple can’t be achieved by everyone else in such a beautiful way. And there lies the magic of these images, in the way they make the beauty in the mundane so nakedly evident , in the way they stress the incredible in the small things, all perfectly achieved in a soft and creamy color palette.
If you continue your tour throug Jen Gotch Land, you will also find two series that are both touching and gorgeously achieved: One of selfportraits with pen scrawls in very specific and key spots that are beautiful and disconcerting at the same time and that make the viewer stop and try to figure out why the photo was scrawled in the first place. And another one of objects and situations that are coupled with simple and stunning short texts that have the power of leading the mind of the beholder to a total understanding of the photographer’s state of mind in the moment she was taking each picture.
I guess there’s nothing left for me to say that cannot be read in her impecable line of work, or in her very own words:
«I live in Los Angeles. Cold weather makes my toes hurt,
I like bunnies and kittens, but zombies are cool too.
